Sheep Barn

Oregon State University (which is located in Corvallis for those who perhaps don't know) is a big agriculture college. Although I've never gone until this year, they open up the sheep barn during lambing season for the public to come see. Our play group went last month and Brennan had a pretty fun time. Really, all you do is look, but that's enough for kids anyway. The lambs are so cute.

Tricky Leprechauns

We had a lot of fun last Tuesday. I had hoped to spend time before hand telling Brennan about St. Patrick's day and what it's about, but hadn't gotten around to it. So, he learned day-of.

The kids woke up to all sorts of leprechaun tricks. They found all our chairs and other items upside down. The toilet water was green, the milk was green, the ice was green... around the house they'd left little green footprints at places where they'd "accidently" dropped some of their gold coins. Little coin piles were also found at some of the locations of the tricks. Brennan also colored some pictures of leprechauns with their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I think that the picture helped his visualize what I'd been trying to explain to him.

That night for dinner we ate green food. As you can see, there's jello and brocolli... there's also biscuits and gravy which was a very exotic shade of green. Brian was a good sport about that, because it looked a bit less appetizing to the adult taste. Brennan's still talking about St. Patrick's Day and those "tricky leprechauns." They'll definitely be visiting again next year.
I think I probably post stuff about Asher's hair a lot, but honestly I can't get over it. I love it! He get's so many comments on his hair.
This is what it looks like after a bath. Notice those cute little blond curls...
... And this is his hair after he wakes up. I wish the pictures did it justice. I kept laughing all day because his curls were sticking up and out like 4 inches. He has got the all-time craziest hair I've ever seen on a 1 year old.

Also, poor kid was breaking out a new tooth this day, so he was extremely sad all day. He was also extrememly cuddly though, and he loved hugging his teddybears. They were very comforting to him. It's so sweet!

Homework Schmomework

I REALLY should not be doing this while I am about a thousand hours behind on my homework. This term is my hardest by FAR for several reason, including that it's not meshing well with the boys' nap (or lack thereof in Brennan's case) schedules.

Anyway, just a check in. Things are going well for us. Asher's learning a bunch of words, except for Mama and Dada. Well, the latter he'll do on occasion when promted, but not the former =-(.
His words so far in order of appearence:
*
"Hot" (since I think about 10 months... he liked to touch the oven door when it was on).
"Uh-Oh" (I first heard him say this after he knocked his tray onto the floor. It's accompanied with a *look* that matches to boot. Melts my heart everytime.)
Possibly "up"
"Amen"
"Dada"
And the most recent, he's been saying something that sounds like "Thank You" (Geh-Goo) so we're rolling with that one.
*
Brian and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. He's doing a lot of babbeling too. Just thinking about it is turning my heart to mush. His sweet little voice, the way he tries to sound like he's carrying on a real "grown-up" conversation... but you get the point.

I was just looking for some recent pictures to add and I guess I really have been away from the blog for a while. There's a lot of pictures. I guess I'll split this up.
Having some fun at home

Congratulations Kelly & Josh

on the birth of Natalie Grace, born March 1, weighing 7 lb 14 oz. We love her already!

O.K... last one for a while

Scene: Heather sitting at the table with the boys who are still eating their lunches. No one is talking at the moment, but Heather is humming a tune while accompanying herself with claps and leg-pats.

Suddenly Brennan exclaims shortly, "Heavenly Father!"

Heather jumped in surprise and looked at him curiously.

Brennan went on, serious but calmer, "Heavenly Father wants you to stop doing that. He doesn't like it."

Heather of course had no choice but to stop.
